Two killed as car rams tree

TIRUVANNAMALAI: Two persons, including a one-and-half-year-old girl, were killed and six others injured when the car they were travelling in rammed a tamarind tree near Sandhavasal on the Cuddalore-Chittoor Road in Tiruvannamalai district early on Sunday.

According to the police, Rajasekharan (45), a Tamil Nadu Electricity Board employee of Thiruvanaikkaval in Tiruchi, was returning to Tiruchi along with family and friends after a visit to Tirupathi. Driver J. Karthikeyan (32), of Thiruvanaikkaval, died on the spot, while Sivakalini died on the way to hospital. The injured have been admitted to Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore. — Special Correspondent
