NEW DELHI: In view of the growing parking problems in the Capital, Mayor Arti Mehra has said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi would provide proper parking facilities in all its future projects. Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony of a community hall at Shalimar Bagh here on Sunday, Ms. Mehra said: “Marriages and social functions have become large-scale events these days and at least 200 car-parking slots are required. “I direct the engineers concerned to construct a two-level parking at this site to ensure there are no problems in future.” Inaugurates bridgeThe Mayor also inaugurated a bridge between Shalimar Bagh and Pitampura. Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta said the proposed community hall would be constructed at a cost Rs.2.3 crore and be completed within 18 months. Facilities“Residents of the locality will find it an inexpensive and suitable place for social functions. “It will have facilities for senior citizens, besides a centre for teaching women sewing and embroidery.” Leader of the House Subhash Arya said the bridge built over the western Yamuna canal had been constructed at a cost of Rs.55 lakh. “The adjoining area has also been improved by building footpaths, a central verge and a two-acre park,” Mr. Gupta added.
