ALAPPUZHA: Devaswom Minister G. Sudhakaran has said that members of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) are under the influence of certain mafia groups which are operating against the State government. Talking to reporters after a public function at the Accept De-addiction Centre at Punnapra near here on Sunday, the Minister said the government had identified who was behind the problems within the TDB. These vested interests were not allowing the TDB members to discharge their duties properly. There was no politics in the TDB’s internal turbulence, but on the other hand, there were attempts to politicise the issue so as to destabilise the CPI(M). The nomination of the existing members of the TDB was not a mistake by the party, but a mistake committed by the government, which would take steps to set things right, he said.
