This Day That Age
Mr. Ellsworth Bunker, United States Ambassador in India, said at a press conference in Bangalore on March 8 that if Pakistan committed aggression against India with the arms supplied by the United States, the U.S. would cry halt to the military aid to Pakistan, and U.S. “friendship would be on the side of India.” Mr. Bunker was subjected to a barrage of questions especially the relationship between America and Pakistan and the impact of the military aid to Pakistan by America on India. Mr. Bunker stated that America was very keen on seeing that the differences between India and Pakistan, particularly over the Kashmir issue and the canal waters dispute, would be resolved amicably either through the good offices of the United Nations or through negotiations. The World Bank was trying to solve the canal waters dispute.
