Medicare at old tariff to CGHS beneficiaries promised

HYDERABAD: Director-General of Central Government Health Services (CGHS), New Delhi Dr. R. K. Srivastava on Sunday assured CGHS beneficiaries to revive medical facilities at super-speciality hospitals in twin cities, based on old medical tariffs, till an understanding between CGHS and speciality hospitals on new tariffs is reached.

The DG, who was on one-day visit to Hyderabad CGHS on Sunday, pointed out that he had already sent a similar proposal to Department of Finance, Government of India, for consideration and would again follow it up. On his arrival to CGHS Begumpet, the DG was cornered by representatives of All Pensioners and Retired Persons Association and members of Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers on the issue of medical tariffs.

“I assure the beneficiaries in Hyderabad that we would take up this issue once again with the finance department. We would try our best to prevail upon the finance department to continue the medical services at old rates, till the matter is resolved,” Dr. Srivasatava promised.

The DG told this newspaper that he is aware of the grievances of CGHS beneficiaries of Hyderabad. The DG also pointed out that adequate measures are being planned to better the medical facilities. “We had given an open advertisement and private hospitals of Hyderabad who bid lowest tariffs were empanelled in the list. This is the rule and we followed it,” Dr. Srivastava defended when asked about the low-tariffs.
