KOLKATA: A fresh attack of avian flu has been reported over the past few days in parts of West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. It comes just weeks after the completion of culling operations in the wake of an outbreak that spread to more than half the districts of the State. Chicken deaths were reported from two blocks and the samples tested positive, Minister for Animal Resources Development, Anisur Rahaman, said on Sunday. Ruling out a major outbreak, Mr. Rahaman said it was difficult to eradicate the virus within weeks. Precautionary measures were being taken in the affected areas and culling of birds would begin shortly.
