JAMSHEDPUR: India ended the second South Asian archery championship with a blaze of glory winning 37 gold medals, 21 silvers and four bronze medals on the concluding day of the three-day meet at the JRD Tata Sports Complex here on Sunday. Nepal came a distant second with a haul of one gold, six silvers and eight bronze medals. Bhutan was third with ten silvers and eight bronze medals. Adonda Raju and V. Pranitha emerged the Olympic round individual champions in the recurve section while Sanjay Swansi and Namita Yadav took the compound bow section individual titles. The results (unless mentioned all are Indians): Olympic round individual, recurve: Men’s final: A. Raju bt Prem Prasad Pun (Nep) 110-104. 3rd place: Tashi Peljor (Bhu) bt Rinchen Gyeltshen (Bhu) 109-106. Women’s final: V. Pranitha bt Dema Dorji (Bhu) 100-73. 3rd place: Dolma Dorji (Bhu) bt Balmai Hansda 97-88. Compound men’s final: Sanjay Swansi bt Deepak Karmakar 114-109. 3rd place: D.K. Gurung (Nep) bt Ramkaji Bantawa (Nep) 79-65. Women’s final: Namita Yadav bt Asrita Kerketta 109-107. 3rd place: Sunetra (SL) (only three entries). Olympic round team championship, recurve: Men’s final: India bt Bhutan 214-200. 3rd: Bangladesh bt Sri Lanka 201-163. Women’s final: India bt Bhutan 183 (9, 9, 7) – 183 (9, 8, 7). 3rd: Sri Lanka bt Bangladesh 172-170. Compound men’s final: India bt Nepal 221-151. 3rd: Bangladesh. (Only three entries).
