PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Government Group ‘D’ Employees (Common) Association will go on a mass casual leave from March 12 to protest the “delay in issuing promotion orders and filling vacancies”. Addressing a press conference on Monday, president of the association K. Gunasekaran said the government had not considered any of their demands for a long time now. “There are around 4,000 group ‘D’ employees and all of us will go on a mass casual leave from March 12. The agitation will go on till the government assures to fulfil our demands,” he said. “No benefits”The association said employees of group ‘D’ had not received any benefits including promotions, increments nor any other concessions despite having seniority and educational qualifications, the functionaries said. Among their demands were allotting the posts of record clerk and PBX operator to group ‘D’ employees, promotion for employees with educational qualifications and to stop recruitment of private security in government departments.
