Minister seeks TD apology

Alleged desecration of Ambedkar statue by MPTC

Statue desecrated at Srirangapuram village in Pebbair mandal of Mahabubnagar TDP MPTC Rammurthy ‘damaged’ the head of the statue and removed one of its arms
HYDERABAD: Rural Development Minister G. Chinna Reddy has demanded that the Telugu Desam Party tender unconditional apology to people over the damages caused to the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Srirangapuram village in Pebbair mandal of Mahbubnagar district by one of its MPTCs.
Police investigation launched into the desecration of the statue proved that TDP MPTC Rammurthy ‘damaged’ the head of the statue and removed one of its arms to stop the Minister (Dr. Chinna Reddy) and the local MLA from launching development works in the village.
While the TDP is trying to stall development works at the State-level with its charges on corruption, the party’s cadre are indulging in such atrocious acts at the village level, he said.
Action soon
Speaking to reporters in Assembly lobbies on Monday, he said the police would initiate appropriate action on the MPTC and demanded that the TDP suspend him from the party if it is committed to the cause of Dalits.
Replying to queries, he asserted that he is committed on his stand on separate Telangana, but would not indulge in any action that will damage the party’s image.
