Sirsi: “Chandanotsav” will be held in the last week of April in Sirsi by Chandana TV channel, said Director of Doordarshan Kendra, Bangalore, Mahesh Joishi. Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, he said such programmes had been held in eight districts of the State. He said that Sirsi was an important cultural hub of Uttara Kannada district and a one-day programme would be arranged to identify, encourage and to recognise local artistes. A “chandanotsav” would be held for children too. Those who wanted to participate in the programme could send their resumes to Doordarshan Kendra in Bangalore, he said. For selection of artistes, interviews would be held in Sirsi, Mr. Joshi added. DocumentaryHe said that a 30-minute documentary programme on Sirsi Marikamba Fair, the biggest in the State, would be telecast on Chandana Vahini this year. The fair would commence on March 18. A unique awareness programme titled “Sanchar Sarigama”, in view of increasing vehicle traffic, accidents, prevention and safety measures in Bangalore, would be arranged on March 15 at the Glass House in Bangalore. The two-hour live telecast would begin at 6.30 p.m. The former MLA, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, was present.
