Opposition stalls Assembly seeking waiver of BCs’ loans

HYDERABAD: Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy adjourned the Assembly for 35 minutes on Monday after placard-waving TDP, CPI (M) and CPI members stormed into the well and disrupted the question hour demanding waiver of the BC Welfare Finance Corporation loans.

Earlier, he disallowed notices for adjournment motions tabled by the three parties on the issue.

Three other notices given by the MIM, BJP and Janata Party on different issues were also rejected. As soon as Mr. Reddy announced that he had disallowed them, the Opposition members were on their feet seeking to raise the issues.

The Speaker told the TDP and Left members to raise the matter during the demands pertaining to BC welfare and assured the MIM to arrange a meeting with Home Minister K. Jana Reddy on its notice relating to arrest of Muslim women. Soon after the House re-assembled, Finance Minister K. Rosaiah assured members that the government was examining the issue sought to be raised by them.
