“BJP workers attacked by CPM activists” “BJP leaders sustained injuries in the clash” NEW DELHI: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Harsh Vardhan on Monday led a delegation of party leaders to see the Commissioner of Delhi Police, Y. S. Dadwal, and demand registration of a case against the Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders for the violence that had taken place at A.K.G. Bhawan on Sunday. The delegation also demanded that the case that had been registered against Dr. Vardhan and other BJP leaders in connection with the violence be dropped. Dr. Vardhan was accompanied by the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Jagdish Mukhi, Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra, Leader of MCD House Subhash Arya and Delhi BJP general secretaries Alok Kumar and Pawan Sharma. The delegation urged Mr. Dadwal to register an FIR on the complaint of the BJP leaders too. He claimed that “the BJP and Hindu Manch workers had reached the CPI(M) office peacefully to protest” when they were allegedly attacked by the CPM workers. Stating that the attack had taken place in the presence of CPI(M) leaders Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury, the delegation demanded that a case be registered against them as well. It also told the Commissioner that a number of BJP leaders had also sustained injuries in the clash. The delegation charged that the police had not registered a case against CPI(M) leaders and workers as it was under pressure from the Union Home Minister to not act in the matter. On the other hand, some BJP leaders who were not even present outside A.K.G. Bhawan had been named in the FIR, Dr. Vardhan said. Meanwhile, the Delhi unit of the BJP has also sent fax messages to the President, the Chief Justice of India, the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission and the Union Home Minister to demand that an FIR be registered on the basis of its complaint.
