Bad precedent

The BJP has set a bad precedent by attacking the national headquarters of the CPI (M). A party which believes in fomenting riots and keeping society divided seems to be extending its ideology of violence to its political opponents too. If a party that is in power in many States resorts to such street violence, how can it expect the common people to be law-abiding? Evidently, the BJP is unwilling to come out of its destructive mindset.

Lingayath Krishna Rajesh,
Mysore

The ghastly mob attack by the RSS-BJP combine on the CPI (M) headquarters is condemnable. What is more unfortunate is the unapologetic stance of some sangh parivar leaders. It was clear from television images that the attack was planned by local BJP leaders to harm the CPI(M) leadership.

Syed Sultan Mohiddin,
Kadapa

The attack on the CPI(M) headquarters by BJP-RSS activists is an expression of their intolerance to the growing influence of the Left’s people-oriented struggles and continuing electoral victories as seen in Tripura. The Left parties in general, and the CPI (M) in particular, are the only unyielding opponents of the obscurantist ideology of the RSS-BJP variety.

Kasim Sait,
Chennai

It is unfortunate that the political rivalry between the RSS and the CPI(M) has taken an ugly turn to reach the country’s capital. One cannot blame the RSS alone. The CPI(M) too should discipline its cadres.

The involvement of some BJP leaders in the Delhi violence is a serious development. It deserves condemnation from all right-thinking people.

N. Divakar,
Mysore
