dated March 11, 1958: Friendship with Rumania

(From an editorial)

In a joint statement, the Premiers of India and Rumania have recalled the resolution passed at the United Nations last December which registered the international recognition of the need for co-existence of independent and sovereign nations of the world. They have also called for the cessation of nuclear tests which are still being carried on by the three nuclear powers. The joint statement indicates that there is likely to be active economic cooperation between Rumania and India in the future. The Eastern European countries like Rumania, Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia have already played a major role in the industrial development of China. They show an equal willingness to help India with the fulfilment of her plans and their offers should be carefully studied in this country.
