Axis Designs moves up

BANGALORE: Axis Designs entered the Champion Trophy semifinals of the Polycom Twenty20 cricket tournament with a 36-run victory over Axa in the semifinals played over the weekend here. In the final, it will meet Infosys BPO which defeated Dell India by six wickets.

The scores (all semifinals): Champions Trophy: Axis Designs 135 in 19.3 overs (Praveen 33, Arun 21, Chandru 21 , Nagendra five for 21) bt Axa 97 in 13.5 overs (Nagendra 32, Srikanth five for 18 ).

Dell India 166 in 19.4 overs (Sundeep 60, Bharath 28, V. Gowda 22) lost to Infosys BPO 169 for four in 18 overs (Sandeep 72, Darshan 37, Mukund 35).

Premier Cup: Artha Options 131 in 19.5 overs (Sunil 36, Subramania 23, Patel three for 22) lost to Bites & Foods 133 for four (Amjad 49, Murugan 32, Amar three for 26).

Dell International 137 for seven in 20 overs (Damoder 41, M. Chetan 23, Edward 22 , Rohit three for 17) lost to Wipro 138 for four in 16.5 overs (Sujith 41, Srikanth 30 n.o., Govind 32).

Challenger Cup: AOL 120 in 18.2 overs (Karthik 24, Idris four 14) lost to 24/7 Customer 124 for five in 18 overs (Arun 38, Karthik 34).

Oracle SSI 90 in 18.4 overs (Vinay three for 6) lost to Micro Land 94 for three in 13.4 overs.

Easy for NIT-K ‘B’

National Institute of Technology – Karnataka ‘B’ (Srinivasnagar) and Yenepoya Medical and Dental College (Deralakatte) scored facile wins in their respective ties in the Ace Surgical Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament played at the Nehru Maidan in Mangalore on Monday.

The scores:

Shree Devi 80 in 17.4 overs (Mohammad Riyaz 19, Santhosh Shankar two for one, Rakshith Prasad two for three, Nithin Chandra two for 21) lost to NIT-K ‘B’ 81 for three in 11.5 overs (Santhosh Shankar 36 n.o.); ABSMIDS 144 for seven in 20 overs (Sharan Shetty 43, Thimmaiah 33, Karthik three for 36) lost to Yenepoya 149 for 1 in 15.5 overs (Rahul 72 n.o., Imbraz 33 n.o.)

Nehru College triumphs

Aided by a century by Dominique Fernandez, Nehru College of Hubli defeated JG Commerce College, Hubli, by a margin of 58 runs to win the Karnataka University second zone inter-collegiate cricket tournament, in Hubli.

In the final played on Sunday, Nehru College, put in, scored 225 with the help of a century by Dominique Fernandez and a half-century by Atik Patel.

The scores:

Nehru College 225 for four in 40 overs (Dominique Fernandez 104, Atik Patel 65) bt JG Commerce College 167 in 34 overs (P. Santosh 43, Sayed Hussain six for 18).

Joseph nets winner

A 35th minute match-winning goal by centre-forward Joseph helped Pope FC register a narrow 1-0 win over Royal FC in the MDFA ’A’ Division league tie played at the Doddakere Maidan grounds in Mysore on Monday.
