New locomotive

Union Shipping Secretary A.P.V.N. Sarma, who was on a two-day visit to the city, inaugurated a new 3,100 horse power locomotive number 2 at Visakhapatnam Port Trust on Sunday. The locomotive could haul up to 58 railway wagons at one go and thus would save fuel, time and maintenance.

He also inaugurated a 30 metre long, 14 metre high, single span open storage shed of 20,000 metric tonnes capacity in the dock area to store fertilizers and alumina. VPT Chairman K.R. Kishore, Deputy Chairman M.S. Rao and Chief Mechanical Engineer S.F. Mumford participated.
