Delightful double for Pranjala

HYDERABAD: Y. Pranjala bagged a double winning the girls’ under-10 and the under-12 singles titles in the Sun-Jay Tennis Academy mini and sub-junior tennis tournament here on Monday.

The results (finals):

Boys: Under-8: Nagori Yash bt V.V.S. Rahul 8-4.

Under-10: Rawal bt B. Vaishnav 6-3, 6-4.

Under-12: S. Akshay bt Numan Hyder 6-3, 6-4.

Girls: Under-8: Sheikh Umera bt C. Sarya Saranya 8-5.

Under-10: Y. Pranjala bt G. Srutha Kirthi 6-2, 6-3.

Under-12: Y. Pranjala bt G. Srutha Kirthi 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

SCR enters final

South Central Railway defeated EME Centre 6-0 in the first semifinal of the V. Hanumantha Rao Super Cup prize money football tournament.

SCR took the lead in the 24th minute through Majid Khan and soon made it 2-0 through Srinivas.

Just before the break, Azeem struck to give SCR a 3-0 lead half-time.

In the second session, Azeem was in the scoring act again for SCR in the 50th minute and later Srinivas scored his second goal through a solo effort.

In the 88th minute, Vijay was on target to complete the tally.

37-run win for Cistron

Cistron recorded a 37-run win over Veva in the sixth Friendship Cup cricket tournament for corporate groups here.

The scores:

Cistron 172 for four (Suresh Rajan 58, Seshagiri 59 n.o.) bt Veva Infomatrix 135 for nine (Deepak 48).

Reebok 196 for seven (Lalith 65, Parth 78) bt Zinda Tilismath 160 for five (Vikas Goel 40).

CRV College wins

CRV College defeated MVSR College 36-34 in the Maganti Raj Kumar memorial basketball tournament organised by City College Old Boys Club here.

In another match, St. Mary’s defeated DJU, Ooty, 50-25 with Hasan (16) and Mustafa (14) being the main scorers, while Anoop (15) put up a good show for DJU.

Inter-district basketball

Khammam District Basketball Association will organise the 32nd sub-junior inter-district championship for boys and girls (under-13 years) from April 20 to 23 at Khammam Pavilion Grounds.

Probables will be selected for a coaching camp based on the performances at the event, for the Nationals to be held in June first week in Kapurtala (Punjab).
