PUDUCHERRY: A proposal to introduce a full postgraduate course in green chemistry has been made at a two-day workshop, which concluded here on Friday.

The workshop on exploring the ways and means to integrate principles and practices of green chemistry with existing undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum was held by the Pondicherry University and the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi.

The postgraduate course would cover principles and practices of green chemistry, theory and methods of solvent-free reactions, microwave-assisted organic synthesis, multi component reactions, reactions in ionic liquids and enzymes in synthesis.

The Department of Chemistry of the Pondicherry University had already introduced green chemistry topics in theory and laboratory experiments.
