KANNUR: Traders in the district went on a fast here on Tuesday to drive home the need for peace in the district. It was organised under the auspices of the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES). Inaugurating the event, KVVES State president T. Nasaruddin said the entire merchant community would extend its help to the traders to restore peace in the district. Calling upon shopkeepers to show courage to bring trouble-makers in the district before law, he said the incidents of violence and murder in the Thalassery area were enough to shock human conscience. KVVES district president Devassya Mecheri presided over the function. C.H. Alikutty, Jose Idaparambil, K.E. Hassan Kunhi and T.F. Sebastian spoke.
