CUTTACK: The railway police on Tuesday retrieved and abandoned and unclaimed bag from a train at Cuttack railway station here containing as many as 66 live bullets of AK-47 rifle. Following a tip off, the Government Railway Police (GRP) retrieved the olive green coloured camouflage bag generally used by army personnel from the New Delhi-Puri down Purushottam Express. “We have also retrieved a red ribbon and a leather belt from near the bag, which was inside the S-9 coach of the train. We suspect the hand of naxalites behind the transfer of the consignment”, said the railway inspector Bikash Dash. The ultras generally use such ribbons and belts during an operation, said the railway inspector. The railway police are investigating into the case and no one is yet arrested or detained in this connection. “As we retrieved the bag from an abandoned bogey there was no scope for detaining anybody in this connection”, police said. Police, however, do not rule out the possibility that the bullets retrieved might have been those looted by the Maoist from Nayagarh district last month. We have got in touch with the police in Nayagarh and at the same time we are also trying to contact the army to find out details about the bullets, the railway police said.
