ALAPPUZHA: The ‘Chettikulangara Kettukazhcha,’ a captivating visual spectacle, drew thousands of devotees to the Chettikulangara Bhagavathy Temple at Mavelikara near here on Tuesday. It is held every year on the auspicious day of the ‘Bharani Nakshatram’ of the Malayalam month of ‘Kumbham.’ The offerings of devotees from as many as six provinces, known as ‘kara’ in local parlance, were paraded in the form of specially sculpted gigantic motifs on the temple ground from 4.30 p.m. onwards after a colourful procession along the roads leading to the temple. The ‘Kettukazhchas’ included six horse motifs, five chariots and mammoth idols of Bheema and Hanuman.
