More than 6,000 invigilators appointed Question papers to be taken to centres in the morning MALAPPURAM: Malappuram district will field the maximum number of students in this year’s SSLC examinations beginning on Wednesday. The district will allow 72,068 students to take the examinations. When 70,700 of them will be school-going, only 1,368 will be taking the examination privately. However, this number will be considerably below the figures Malappuram fielded in 2006. As many as 81,519 students had taken the SSLC examinations in Malappuram two years ago. Deputy Director of Education (DDE) K.C. Gopi said that all arrangements were in place for the smooth conduct of the examinations. More than 6,000 invigilators were appointed for the examinations. The question papers were stored in the government treasuries as well as the branches of State Bank of Travancore. The question papers of each day’s examination will reach the exam centres only in the morning of that day. Tirur educational district will have the most number of students. As many as 35,577 students will take the examinations in Tirur, with 35,078 school going and 499 private candidates. In Malappuram educational district, 23,029 students will take the examinations. As many as 22,614 of them will be school going, only 415 will be private candidates. Wandoor educational district will have the lowest number of students. With13,008 school going and 454 private candidates, Wandoor will field 13,462 students for this year’s SSLC examinations. It has been two years since Wandoor educational district came into being. CPPHMHS at Ozhur in Tirur educational district will have the highest number of students. As many as 1,022 students will take the examinations there. Fisheries Technical Higher Secondary School at Tanur in the same educational district will have the lowest number of students. Only 18 students will take the examinations there. Unlike the previous years, the examinations will be in the afternoon. There will be a 15-minute cool-off time when the exam starts at 1.45 p.m.
