Jnanappana award presented

Guruvayur: Cochin Devaswom Board president T. G. Ravi presented the Jnanappana Award, instituted by the Guruvayur Devaswom, to M. Leelavathy, writer, at a function here on Tuesday evening.

District Collector M. Beena; the writers Akkitham, V. Madhusudhan Nair and Ambalapuzha Ramavarma; Guruvayur Devaswom Chairman Thotthathil Ravindran; Administrator V. Rathisan; and managing committee members Mallissery Parameswaran Namboodiri, Gokulam Gopalan and M. Vasudevan were present.

The award, carrying a purse of Rs. 10,000 and citation, was decided by a committee comprising Akkitham, Unnikrishnan Puthur, Radhakrishnan Kakkassery and Guruvayur Devaswom managing committee member T. Haari.

Earlier in the day, a poets’ meet was held here as part of Poonthanam Day celebrations. Akkitham, V. Madhusudhanan Nair, Ravunni, Alamcode Leelakrishnan and Chovvallur Krishnankutty were among those who took part in it.
