Bail granted to accused

NEW DELHI: A court here on Tuesday granted bail to 14 persons who were arrested in connection with the violence outside the Communist Party of India (Marxist) headquarters on Bhai Veer Singh Marg here on Sunday.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar granted bail to the accused after they furnished personal bonds of Rs.25,000 and sureties of like amount each.

On Monday, the court had remanded them to 14-day judicial custody. However, counsel for the accused had moved the bail petition for the accused on which the court had reserved its order for Tuesday.

The accused, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Svayamsevak Sangh, had been charged with rioting and causing grievous injuries.
