Purshotham Reddy’s tour aborted
N. Rahul
PASRA (Warangal dt.): Telangana Planning and Development Board chairman Vuppunuthala Purshotham Reddy’s planned visit to Devadula lift-irrigation scheme was aborted here on Tuesday when police refused to permit him to proceed to the site in his own convoy of vehicles for security reasons. The police positioned two ordinary RTC buses with passengers to ferry Mr. Reddy and his followers to the in-take point of the project at Gangaram, 75 kms away, but the latter was unrelenting in his demand to go ahead in his car. He turned back in protest as the police led by the local Circle Inspector V. Tirupathi refused to clear the road for the group. Congress MLA of Mulug Podem Veeraiah was also present at a short distance away.
Earlier, Mr. Reddy received a telephone call from All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of the State Veerappa Moily enquiring about the former’s slanging match with Minister R. Damodar Reddy.
