DEHRA DUN: The Opposition Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party members returned to the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday ending their three-day-old boycott of the House. The deadlock was broken after a 90-minute meeting of the Opposition members with Chief Minister B.C. Khanduri. The agitating members had held a mock Assembly session outside the Vidhan Sabha on Monday. “The Chief Minister has assured us that due importance would be given to issues raised by us and we will continue to play the role of a healthy Opposition,” said the Leader of the Opposition, Harak Singh Rawat. Health Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who played a leading role in bringing about peace, said the fears of the Opposition members had been allayed by the Chief Minister. The Congress and the BSP members had announced a boycott of the entire Assembly session last week after the Government refused to allow a discussion on the problems faced by a large number of people in securing domicile and caste certificates. Government has since restored the earlier system.
