dated March 12, 1958: Intra-regional trade

India, Pakistan, Ceylon, and six other countries were appointed to a drafting committee to examine a Japanese suggestion for trade talks between regional members of the Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE) on March 10. The other countries appointed to the drafting committee were Indonesia, Japan, Malaya, Britain, the Soviet Union and the United States. The resolution proposed that intra-regional trade promotion talks on an experimental basis be held to exploit every opportunity of expanding trade between the countries of the ECAFE region.
