S. Rly, ECR qualify

CHENNAI: Southern Railway and East Central Railway qualified for the knockout stage of the all-India Railway cricket championship after the conclusion of the league phase.

Southern Railway, which topped the group, defeated East Central Railway on Tuesday.

The scores: Southern Railway SA 287 for nine in 50 overs (A. Baskar 84, Rohan Prem 51, P. Hariraj 45) bt East Central Railway 220 for nine in 44.5 overs, by Norm Method.

South Eastern Railway 272 for five in 44 overs (Prashantha Singha Roy 61, Shoam Singh 84) bt Diesel Locomotive Works 253 in 43.3 overs (A. Varma 68).
