Pandian, Ramkumar and Abdullah shine

Sivagangai: Aruna Sports Club (Karaikudi), helped by P. Pandian’s 72 and fine bowling by Ramkumar and Sheik Abdullah, who took four wickets each for 21 and eight runs respectively, emerged winner of the Sivagangai District Twenty20 cricket tournament, defeating Syed Ammal Engineering College (Ramanathapuram) by 98 runs at Sivagangai on Tuesday.

The scores: Aruna Sports Club 187 for seven in 20 overs (P. Pandian 72, Sangeerthanan 51, M.M. Rajesh three for 31) bt Syed Ammal Engg. College 89 in 15.1 overs (Premkumar four for 21, Sheik Abdullah four for eight).

Satheesh, Jegadeesh sparkle

Medium-pacer Satheesh (five for 36) and Jegadeesh (83) helped Commandos Cricket Club chalk out a 28-run victory over Eagles CC in the Canara Bank-Kanyakumari DCA second division league at Nagercoil on Tuesday.

The scores: First division: Vantage CC 93 in 27.1 overs lost to Packer Colts CC 97 for eight in 24 overs.

Second division: Commandos CC 204 for five in 30 overs (Jegadeesh 83, Raja 44 not out) bt Eagles CC 176 for nine in 30 overs (Ferozekhan 66 not out, Riaz 68, Satheesh five for 36).

Commandos CC 155 in 23 overs bt Marthandam Friends CC 75 in 22 overs.

Satheesh shines

A fine all-round performance by Satheesh (53 & four for 12) enabled Indian Cricket Club score a thrilling one-run win over Jolly Rovers Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-CDCA first division league for the Pricol Trophy at the TNAU grounds in Coimbatore recently.

The scores: First division: Indian CC 203 for six in 50 overs (Nagaraj 62 not out, Satheesh 53) bt Jolly Rovers CC 202 in 49.5 overs (John Baptist 74, Satheesh four for 12); Sri Ramakrishna Mills SC 244 in 50 overs (S.P. Saravanakumar 49, K. Hari Prasad 40, Aslam Sher Khan four for 43) bt RKS CA 241 for nine in 50 overs (R. Venkatesh 72, Sathyaraj 49, Karthik five for 43).

Third division: Rainbow Wizards CC 159 in 39.5 overs (U.M. Kirubakaran 76 not out, K. Suresh four for 53) lost to Friends RC 161 for six in 29.5 overs (Sridharan 42 not out).

Fourth division: Miracle CC 259 for eight in 50 overs (Francis Nelson 61, Joseph Rajesh 52) lost to CIT CC 261 for eight in 48.1 overs (Vikraman 50, S. Sankar 48).

Nazer sparkles

K. Nazer scored 89 in Sri Ramakrishna Mills Sports Club’s 105-run win over Friends Recreation Club in the CDCA-Ramakrishna Mills Trophy prize money cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds recently.

The scores: Sri Ramakrishna Mills SC 216 for seven in 30 overs (K. Nazer 89) bt Friends RC 111 in 27.1 overs; Rainbow Jeeva CC 177 for eight in 30 overs (Sijo 53) bt Arumugam XI Patriots CC 140 in 24.1 overs (M.N. Senthil Kumar five for 41).
