Two arrested for murder

NEW DELHI: Two proclaimed “bad characters” of the Preet Vihar police station, including a woman, have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police for alleged involvement in several cases of murder and attempt to murder.

Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid near Gagan cinema in Nand Nagari on Monday evening and the accused — Shakil (25) and Shakila (53) — were arrested and a 7.65 mm pistol of foreign make was allegedly seized. Shakil, a washerman, took to crime at the age of 18 years and is involved in 10 cases of murder, attempt to murder and robbery, the police said. Shakila is also allegedly involved in bootlegging and betting.
