Director Samuthirakani urged students to develop their skills at cultural extravaganza

PERAMBALUR: ‘Sangamam-2008’ provided a perfect opportunity for students of Thanthai Hans Roever College here to showcase their talent.
The highlight of the annual cultural extravaganza was a folk dance performance, which was well-received by the audience. The programme also featured some of the regular events such as skit, mimicry and Western and classical dance.
Film and television serial director Samuthirakani was the chief guest for the function.
He was accompanied by Arasi serial crew members — dialogue writer Liyakath Ali Khan and actors P.A. Aru Subramnainam, Paboos, Subaraj, John Ranjith and Julie.
Mr. Samuthirakani urged the students to develop skills in their area of interest and work hard to achieve their goals.
Mr. Samuthirakani, who directed popular television serials Anni and Selvi is now busy with Arasi.
He entered the film industry through Unnai Charanadainthen and his debut venture bagged him the State award for ‘Best Story.’
He gave away prizes to winners of the competitions in the presence of chairman of Roever Institutions K. Varadharaajen and director and principal of the college N. Durairaj.
