KSSIA unit plans industrial directory

Kochi: Close on the heels of bringing out a monthly bulletin on its activities for its growing number of members, the Ernakulam district unit of the Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) plans to bring out an industrial directory in April.

The directory will provide details of the KSSIA members in the district. It would be a comprehensive one, said K.N. Subhagan, KSSIA district president.

The Ernakulam unit has around 600 members and it represents their interests in various fora and serves as a forum for interaction among themselves. The district unit has been an effective instrument in sharing of information which is considered useful to small industrial units.

It also conveys to its members orders and instructions received from government and other agencies. It is also the most suitable forum for airing of complaints and addressing them in a collective effort.

The publication, Voice, a monthly journal launched last year, is another example of KSSIA’s attempt to address its new requirements for constant and effective communication among its members.

Voice is an attempt to sharing information on the latest rules, regulations, orders and instructions pertaining to small-scale industrial units. It is also a forum through which new entrepreneurs are introduced, encouraged and given the backing of the collective that is KSSIA.

The association represents the entire spectrum of small-scale industries that include wood-based, plastics, engineering, rubber, printing, information technology, food processing industries etc.
