DHARWAD: As part of its silver jubilee celebrations, the Karnataka Media Academy has organised a workshop “Karnataka Avalokana” here on March 16. It will be held at the Manasollasa auditorium in Karnatak University, Dharwad. UniquenessThe objective of the programme was to introduce the journalists to the State’s heritage in history, architecture and traditions and the uniqueness of Kannada language, secretary of the academy H.B. Dinesh said in a release. In the workshop, which will be inaugurated by journalist Patil Puttappa, head of the Dr. R.C. Hiremath Chair of Kannada Studies H.M. Maheshwaraiah will deliver a lecture on “Kannada language, culture, heritage.” Omkar Kakade, Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Karnataka State Women’s University, Bijapur, will speak on “Problems of the border areas of Karnataka.” TalkJournalist Shivanand Joshi will speak on “Journalism of North Karnataka” and Head of the Department of Ancient Indian History and Epigraphy of Karnatak University S.V. Padigar on “Architectural specialities of Karnataka.” Journalist M. Madanmohan will speak on “Development of North Karnataka and Irrigation Scheme" as part of the workshop.
