Need for bringing back Krishna questioned ‘Congress using minorities as a vote bank’ DAVANGERE: Janata Dal (Secular) leader Satish Kolenahalli has alleged that backward classes Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes leaders were being sidelined in the Congress. He regretted that the communities were being used by the party for its image-building exercises. He said Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president M. Mallikarjun Kharge had all these years worked hard for the party. Instead of facing elections under his leadership, the Congress had brought back S.M. Krishna to the forefront. Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Satish said this was not the first time a backward classes leader had been sidelined in the Congress, and recalled that B. Janardhana Poojary, former KPCC president, had also been replaced by the late Veerendra Patil. He alleged that the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was not being treated well after joining the Congress. President of the farmers’ wing of the Janata Dal (S) Nageshwara Rao said the Congress had no right to claim support of the backward classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, as it had done nothing for them. He questioned the appropriateness of recalling Mr. Krishna to State politics when able leaders such as N. Dharam Singh, Mr. Kharge, and M.V. Rajasekharan were present.
