PWD engineer trapped

DAVANGERE: Assistant Executive Engineer in the Public Works Department at Harihar M. Mallikarjun was arrested by the Lokayukta police while he was allegedly receiving bribe of Rs. 40, 000 from a contractor here on Wednesday. According sources in the Lokayukta, Rudre Gowda, the contractor, had completed road repair work and submitted bills to the department.

Mr. Mallikarjun had allegedly demanded Rs. 40,000 from him, if they were to be passed.

It was then that Mr. Rudre Gowda approached the Lokayukta. — Staff Correspondent
