The process of campus placements at Delhi University’s Faculty of Management Studies has been quite a success this year with the average salary for MBAs shooting up by 27 per cent to touch Rs.15.31 lakh per year, up from Rs.12.04 lakh last year.

The average salary for the MBA-Management of Services (MBA-MS) course too has gone up to Rs.13.1 lakh per annum this year from Rs.10.55 lakh last year, registering a 24 per cent increase.

As many as 141 students of FMS, comprising 99 students in the MBA programme and 42 in the MBA-MS, took part in the process.

The highest domestic salary offered was Rs.26 lakh per year.

The highest international salary offered touched a new high of 105,000 dollars per year.

Nearly 52 per cent of the batch opted for a career in finance, while marketing was the next preferred choice with 26 per cent, followed by consulting that stood at 16 per cent, according to an FMS release.

“The final placements bear testimony to the robust and growing Indian corporate sector. The placements displayed in full light the sound academic foundation, strong sense of purpose and an attitude towards excellence of every FMS student,” said Placement Committee convenor Madhu Vij.

Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, also boasted cent per cent placements this year.

A total of 554 offers were made to 256 students, including 32 international offers.

The institution continued to attract the best organisations in the banking and financial sector offering a wide spectrum of roles for the students.

Pakistani scientist A. Q. Khan, who led a massive illicit network to procure and sell nuclear weapons-related components, technologies, materials and services, will be the subject matter of a panel discussion to be organised by Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi.

The Pakistan Studies Programme of Academy of Third World Studies will organise a panel discussion on “Making sense of the A.Q. Khan proliferation network” on Thursday.

Admiral K. Raja Menon will be in the Chair, while Seema Gahlaut and Anupam Srivastava from the Centre for International Trade and Security at the University of Georgia will be the key speakers.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi has announced admissions for its post-graduate medical degree/diploma programmes for the next academic session.

These courses will be conducted at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjang Hospital affiliated to the University.

Only the medical graduates of IP University are eligible to apply for the admissions.

The University will be admitting students to the post-graduate medical courses for the first time.

The admissions will be made on the basis of a Common Entrance Test to be conducted on April 10.

Law Centre-1 of the Faculty of Law at Delhi University is organising a “seminar week” on “Emerging trends in law” beginning this Thursday.

The event will cover various legal issues of contemporary importance, challenges for the law and possible solutions for them.

Eminent legal experts, educationists, administrators, professionals and scholars are expected to deliver lectures on a variety of topics throughout the week.
