PUDUCHERRY: Incessant rain has lashed Puducherry since Tuesday evening. The Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, has asked fishermen not to venture into the sea for the next 24 hours. Puducherry received a rainfall of 52.5 mm. Rain or thundershowers is likely to at many places in the next 48 hours. “The situation is normal now. We do not anticipate any dislocation [of people] or inundation of low-level areas,” an official of the Collectorate said. A warning has been issued to fishermen as strong onshore winds from easterly to north easterly directions were likely along the coast.
