Charred body of woman found

Staff Reporter

ALAPPUZHA: The charred body of Thankamma, 60, was found at her residence at Alackaparambu at Thuravoor under the Kuthiathode police station limits on Wednesday morning.

Though preliminary investigations by the police indicated that Thankamma could have doused herself with kerosene before setting herself ablaze on Tuesday night, the statement of her younger son Manoharan and those of neighbours prompted the police to register a case of suspicious death.

Mr. Manoharan had stated to the police during investigations that he was away at his wife’s residence on Tuesday night.

However, Mr. Manoharan’s neighbours told the police that he was seen at his house on the night when the incident occurred.
