Malappuram to be garbage-free

MALAPPURAM: All panchayats in the district will be declared garbage-free on March 31 as part of achieving total sanitation in Malappuram.
A day-long workshop held for local body members and officials here on Wednesday decided to work towards a ‘garbage-free Malappuram district’ as part of the cleanliness drive.
District panchayat president Arimbra Mohammed inaugurated the workshop.
District Collector M.C. Mohandas presided over the function.
P.A. Azeez, district coordinator of the Total Sanitation Campaign, welcomed the gathering.
P.K. Kunhu, district panchayat vice-president, released a logo for ‘garbage-free Malappuram.’ V.K. Akbar, deputy superintendent of police, delivered the keynote address.
K.M.N. Namboothiri, assistant coordinator of the Total Sanitation Campaign, proposed a vote of thanks.
