Government contractors’ demand

KOCHI: The All Kerala Government Contractors’ Association has said that construction works, including ongoing projects, will soon come to a standstill owing to the spiralling costs of construction material. Addressing mediapersons here, officials of the district unit of the association said either construction material and bitumen be supplied through government-owned agencies or the amount quoted be revised according to market rates. It also demanded revision of the tax schedule and profit margin of contractors. There has been a 300 per cent rise in cost of construction material and labour charges. — Staff Reporter
