Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy HYDERABAD: Unlike the Karimnagar Lok Sabha bypoll when the Congress drafted Ministers to each of the seven Assembly segments to supervise electioneering, the party plans to entrust the task to local leaders in the ensuing byelections to four Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly constituencies. It has decided to involve constituency-level party leaders, especially in the seats vacated by the TRS MPs and MLAs, and entrust them a specific task in the campaigning for the candidates in the bypolls. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday held separate teleconferences with the presidents of the DCCs of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy to discuss the bypoll strategy. He directed them to work in close tandem with the in-charge Ministers to ensure the party’s victory. He made it clear that local leaders would be directly involved in the electioneering. Dr. Reddy told the DCC presidents to coordinate the party activities with the in-charge Ministers till the conclusion of the elections. The Chief Minister wanted them to hold constituency-level meetings on March 16 and send a detailed report on the party’s prospects by March 18. They would have to also scout for prospective candidates in each segment. He is believed to have advised the DCC chiefs to highlight the development programmes taken up in the last three years.
