Puducherry Governor resigns
Special Correspondent,
PUDUCHERRY: Lieutenant Governor Mukut Mithi has resigned on Wednesday. He has decided to contest the Rajya Sabha election from his home State, Arunachal Pradesh.
Shortly before leaving the Raj Nivas, he told reporters that he had submitted his resignation to the President. He had to hurriedly leave, as he wanted to file his nomination papers before March 15. Describing his nearly 20-month-tenure as fruitful, he appealed to Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and his Cabinet colleagues to “bury their differences” in the interest of the people and work for the development of the Union Territory. He was sworn in Lt. Governor of Puducherry on July 19, 2006.
