FOR A COOL SUMMER: Pradeep Bakshi, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Voltas, launching the new premium range room air conditioners in New Delhi on Wednesday. NEW DELHI: Voltas, the air conditioning and engineering services company of the Tata group, will target scaling up its market share to 20 per cent from 17 per cent in the fast growing AC segment, riding on the new launches and an advertisement budget of Rs. 30 crore. “With a stated target of achieving 20 per cent market share, the company has put in place an aggressive distribution strategy to increase the number of channel partners from 3,000 to about 4,000 next year. The company is also investing around 2 per cent of its turnover in beefing its service infrastructure to give the best service experience to customers,” Pradeep Bakshi, Vice-President, told reporters here on Wednesday on the occasion of the launch of a total of 42 new models, including ACs, freezers, water coolers and dispensers. The company is launching a whole new range of sleek-looking room ACs for the premium and luxury segments. Functional as well as elegant, the new models were bound to heat up the AC market in the summer of 2008, he said, adding that the company was positioning itself for the market leadership. ‘Star rated’ ACsHe said the energy saving Voltas range includes ‘Star Rated’ ACs in both Splits and Windows, going right up to the most-efficient five-star rated units. Voltas room air conditioners are, therefore, fully geared to deliver economical performance and this, combined with elegant looks, makes for a formidable product offering, he added. The new models of ACs carry the price tag ranging from Rs. 9,990 to Rs. 36,000.
