DYFI members protest Aavin milk price hike

TAMBARAM: Members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India staged a demonstration outside the Sholinganallur plant of Aavin on Rajiv Gandhi Salai on Monday, protesting the hike in milk price.

K.A.Santhosh, joint secretary of the South Chennai unit of DYFI, said the hike in price of milk made it harder for the poor to have access to essential commodity. The hike would have a severe impact on the household budget of families of the urban poor, Mr. Santhosh said, considering that rearing of cattle in Chennai city limits was prohibited. The DYFI members called for the immediate rollback of the increased price of Aavin milk.
