Kochi: The Kerala Lawyers Congress on Wednesday said that the remarks of CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan against the High Court observations on Kannur incidents were part of the move to weaken and tarnish the judiciary’s image. In a statement, V.V. Joshi and James Kadavan, president and secretary of the congress which owes allegiance to the Kerala Congress (M), said that it was part of a “hidden agenda” to threaten the judiciary which often made strictures against the government. The Indian Lawyers Congress (ILC), Ernakulam District Court Unit, said that the statements of Mr. Pinarayi were a challenge to the Constitution and the judiciary. In a statement, O.S. Jafarkhan, chairman, said that the statements were against democratic norms.
