BANGALORE: A majority of the police officers booked by Lokayukta police have been accused of amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. The oldest case is the one registered against IPS officer Kempaiah, who was accused in 1993 of amassing wealth that was found to be 45 per cent more than his income. The others are Krishnappa, former Commandant of KSRP Mangalore; N. Krishnappa, former Deputy Superintendent of Police, Doddaballapur; Vishwanath Singh, former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vidhana Soudha; Srinivasa Iyer, former Superintendent of Police, Police Training School; G. Ajjappa, former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vidhana Soudha; B.P. Haraje, former Superintendent of Police, DCRE, Gulbarga; B.G. Wandakar, former Deputy Superintendent of Police, Belgaum; D.C. Rajappa, former Additional Superintendent of Police; H.K. Revanna, Circle Police Inspector of Jagalur; former police inspectors Mir Arif Ali, N. Narayanaswamy, Shivanna, Shami-ur-Rehman, H.J. Mariswamy Gowda, S.B. Mallikarjuna, H. Siddappa and K. Purushottam. K.M. Chandregowda, Assistant Commissioner of Mysore, was accused of demanding and accepting Rs. 20,000 in February 2000.
