BERHAMPUR: Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare spent Thursday with the physically challenged in the city. During the day, he attended three functions and all of them were related to the physically challenged. Mr. Bhandare reached the city on a two-day visit to Gnajam district. In the afternoon he reached the mega artificial limbs’ fixation camp organised by the Marwari Yuva Manch (MYM) at the Berhampur stadium. The next stop of the Governor was at the Helen Keller Red Cross School for Deaf and Dumb at Ambapua. At a special function organised there, he distributed hearing aids to students of the school. Later, it was the turn of blind students of the Red Cross School for the Blind to interact with the governor. At this school also, he distributed aids like walking sticks to the students. He spent a long time interacting with the blind students. Advice to studentsHe advised students to build up their self confidence and said ‘Self help is the best help’. He promised to provide computers to the school with special software that would transform text to voice-data for the benefit of the blind students. He expressed his best wishes for the students of the school who would be appearing for the secondary school board examination this month.
