Parading the accused in front of the media in Siddipet, Medak Superintendent of Police R. B. Nayak said that the thirty-year-old Kuncham Yadagiri who belonged to Donti village of Medak was a resident of Gundetipalli in Toopran mandal of the district. He was known to have killed people by choking them with his towel and then rob them of their valuables and cash. Mr. Nayak said that Yadagiri was arrested by the police during a routine check near the mandal office for driving without valid documents. The police were on look out for Yadagiri in relation of two theft cases and three murder cases. Later, during the interrogation, the police realised that their chance catch was the elusive killer. Modus operandiThe accused admitted to choking his victims to death. His technique was to lure women from toddy compounds to forlorn places and then overpower them, he told the reporters. However, he said he never raped anyone of his victims. With the men, he used invite them over for couple of drinks and after getting them drunk, he would kill them. Yadagiri said that he first killed Gandla Satyanarayana who had a fight with him over the boundary issue of his land in 2001. He confessed that he killed the Medak sub-jail warder who “tortured” him while he was undergoing imprisonment for the offences committed in the past. He had invited jail warder Chandraiah for drinks and killed him in the same way he did the others. He also killed one of his accomplices Kammari Ramesh . The police recovered seven tolas of gold, 110 tolas of silver , two Hero Honda (AP 10 F 6468 and AP 9 N 961) bikes, two mobile phones and two towels. The victims belonged to Siddipet, Chegunta, Shivampet, Bibi Nagar, Medchal and Dundigal.
