20,810 students to appear for PU exams in Davangere

DAVANGERE: As many as 20,810 second year pre-university students will appear for the examinations from Monday in Davangere district. Carrying mobile phones into the examination halls and use of cellphones by unauthorised persons near the examination centres has been prohibited.

Chairing a meeting to review the preparations for the examinations here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner M.B. Dyaberi said that the examinations would be held in 28 centres in the district.

He directed Deputy Director of Pre-University Education P. Chowdappa to take steps to ensure that there were no malpractices.

Mobile squads

Mr. Chowdappa said that five mobile squads had been formed to pay surprise visit to the examination centres.

Taluk officers had been posted to the examination centres in rural and taluk areas and district officers had been posted to supervise the examinations at centres in the city areas.

Some examination centres had been classified as sensitive and hyper sensitive. Additional police personnel would be posted to such centres, Mr. Dyaberi said. Prohibitory orders would be imposed within the 200-m radius around the examination centres from March 17 to March 29, he added.
