Islamic scholar passes away

MALAPPURAM: Islamic scholar, reformer, writer and educationalist M.K. Mohammed Salim Moulavi, 64, died at Riyadh in Saudi Arabia on Thursday morning. His body will be brought to Padinjattumuri near here on Sunday, said his family sources. He had gone to Riyadh to meet relatives.
Moulavi had worked in several fields and was in the forefront of maintaining orphanages. He was the district president of the Muslim Orphanages Coordination Committee. He was also editor of ‘Jamiyyath,’ a magazine of the Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama. He is survived by wife and seven children.
People from different walks of life, including Muslim League leaders condoled the death of Moulavi.
